Apple, Netflix, and Amazon have joined the growing list of technology companies that have opted out of the 2020 South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) amid growing concerns about the Corona virus.
Earlier, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok said they would not attend the massive cultural and technical event.
Apple has said it will no longer participate, as it canceled the world premiere of Spike Jonze’s documentary, Beastie Boys Story, as well as its shows for the animated musical series Central Park and docuseries “Home”, Variety reported on Wednesday.
Netflix has canceled five film screenings including a feature film Uncorked and four documentaries: Love Secret, L.L. Verse. The original, lots of love, enjoy a good trip: psychedelic adventures, the #BlackExcellence board.
Additionally, Amazon Studios confirmed its decision to withdraw from SXSW, by examining its Upload and Tales of the Loop offerings, which included questions and answers with staff and crew.
According to the report, SXSW organizers still say that the annual Music, Technology and Entertainment festival in Austin, Texas, continues from March 13 to 22. Earlier, Austin officials said the festival would continue.
